Bid on government contracts, source supplies, arrange logistics and meet deadlines.

2004. You are a defense broker with twenty-five thousand dollars, a desk, and access to the solicitation board.

The work is real procurement. Read a notice, price it against what suppliers will actually charge, work out whether freight and lead time leave you a margin, and bid. Win it and you still have to fill it — find a house that has the goods, book a carrier that can move them, and get everything to the delivery date.

Miss the date and the government pays you less. Miss it badly and you default.

Nothing is hidden. There are no dice behind your quote, no invisible modifiers on your standing. Every number that decides whether a deal works is on screen before you commit, and every failure is one you can trace back to a decision you made.

The desk is the whole game:

DPON — the solicitation board. Read notices, quote them, and fill the ones you win.

Email — the correspondence a broker actually lives in. Awards, referrals, the houses that will and will not deal with you.

Accounting — a real balance sheet and income statement, in integer cents, that always adds up.

Annual Report — the year in figures, and where your standing stands.

Spread — compare a line item across every house in the book.

Contacts, Calendar, and a calculator, because you will need one.

Standing is not a number that fiddles your odds. It decides how far up the catalog the work you are shown reaches. Deliver clean and bigger contracts appear. Default on the houses that shipped to you on credit and they stop returning your calls.

No timers, no energy, no waiting on a live server. Everything is stored on your own device.
